As one of the few people who chose the Courier Journal as their news source during the 4 weeks we had the project, it is my duty to inform others about how this control group media is different than the TV news stations. Based upon what I have heard and read from other students, I would say that some of them did not completely meet expectations. On the contrary, the Courier Journal excelled at delivering important, in-depth stories to its readers. The stories presented by the Courier were relevant, important stories that were presented in an easy to understand way. Anyone who cannot read the Courier at all should probably go back to the third grade, as that is around the reading level that newspapers are supposed to report in. Even though the reporters at the Courier Journal could have sat in the courtroom of the David Camm trial and written down what was being said every day, they did not, and only reported when an important event occurred, such as David Camm being declared innocent. The stories were only in the paper a few times, and only one or two were headlines. All of the stories printed were very in-depth, although in the defense of the TV stations, the Courier had more space to put stories in than the others. Because of these reasons, I hereby bestow upon the Courier Journal the Brown Seal of Approval! (patent pending) This entitles them to one half off ice cream at the restaurant of their choice, with the purchase of an ice cream at twice the normal value! Quite an honor indeed!
